Overview

Wamburun Hall is one of the University's newest residential and welcomes its first cohort of students in 2019. Named after the local Indigenous word for large black cockatoo, the striking glass building, located at the foot of Black Mountain, houses 500 self-catered students.

Wamburun residents enjoy the benefits of living in a culturally diverse, inclusive and supportive community located on the ANU campus - close to the city, their classes and the beautiful Australian bushland.

The Hall features dining spaces and large communal kitchens, where students can cook individually or together whenever they like. Each resident is allocated an individual, light and airy, furnished bedroom. There is a communal laundry with washing machines and dryers, common spaces including Junior Common Room, Senior Common Room, movie theatre, music rooms and study rooms on each floor. The sunny quad in the middle of the building will feature shared community garden beds, and is a great place to eat meals, catch up with friends, read, or play backyard cricket and football.

All residents have the opportunity to participate in interhall social, arts and sports programs and a program of events presented by the residential community and the Hall.
